In order to showcase and motivate net zero activity in the rural community, the Countryside COP2 is returning this October with a packed programme of events.
Running from Monday October 10 until Friday October 14, the Countryside COP2 programme, organised by the Agriculture and Land Use Alliance, is returning four-weeks ahead of COP27 with the aim of using the findings and outcomes of the conference to produce recommendations for policy-makers, farmers, researchers, investors, the supply chain and the wider rural economy, ahead of the United Nation’s conference – taking place November 6 to 18 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
As such, Countryside COP2 seminars will consider the themes of adaptation and water; biodiversity, nature-based solutions and land use; science, technology and innovation; a just rural transition; finance; and skills and training.
Each day of the conference will focus on one of the listed themes, with a number of in-person and on-line seminars and events being held, which you can find out more about or sign up to by clicking HERE.
Agriculture and Land Use Alliance representatives said of Countryside COP2: “All of us have a part to play in the journey to net zero and we are stronger when working together. The Countryside COP isn’t just an opportunity for farmers, but for anyone with an interest in the countryside and rural economy and an ambition to reach net zero, to come together to collaborate and share their collective expertise, experience and knowledge.”
“We encourage as many people as possible to get involved in the Countryside COP so we can share all our knowledge and help rural areas to maximise their contribution to the government’s net zero target, all while continuing to produce fantastic, affordable, climate-friendly food for people at home and abroad.”
