CRD has re-authorised Bayer insecticide Envidor (spirodiclofen) for use on apple and pear.
Bayer product manager for fruit and vegetable crops Claire Matthewman says this is good news for growers in the current climate of increasing product restrictions and losses. “Envidor’s unique mode of action for control of mite pests and mussel scale is becoming increasingly valuable due to loss of other actives, and for pear sucker control it is the favoured standard in ‘soft’ programmes that are kind to beneficials.”
On the new label with MAPP number 17518 Envidor’s ‘important information’ box is unchanged i.e. it remains authorised for one application per crop at a maximum individual dose of 0.6 L/ha with latest time of application 14 days before harvest. One important change to note on the new label is that the buffer zone has been reduced from 30 to 15 metres.
Envidor is relied on widely by specialist crop growers for control of mites. New label Envidor MAPP 17518 already has EAMUs for outdoor crops of plum, cherry, apricot, peach, nectarine, blackcurrant, redcurrant, whitecurrant, gooseberry and outdoor use in ornamental plant production. It also has EAMUs for use on permanent protection with full enclosure crops of cucumber, pepper, chilli and tomato. It is understood that EAMUs for protected and outdoor strawberry, outdoor soft fruit and protected ornamentals are being pursued too.
