Following discussions with the NFU British Sugar has announced the 2015/16 Campaign Start Dates as follows:
Bury St Edmunds Thursday 24th September 2015
Newark Thursday 24th September 2015
Wissington Monday 28th September 2015
Cantley Friday 2nd October 2015
These dates are designed to strike a balance between managing the industry’s large sugar stocks, the current growth stage of the crop and growers’ desire to start their harvesting programmes. The anticipated end dates for Bury, Cantley and Wissington factories are in mid-January and Newark, as is normal, will be approximately 2 weeks later.
Colm McKay, British Sugar’s Agriculture Director, said “We were keen to notify our growers of this season’s campaign start dates as early as possible so they can plan their harvesting and delivery schedules especially as this campaign will finish earlier than previous years, across all our sites.”
