ProCam, one of the leading UK-wide agronomy and crop production businesses, has acquired the specialist forage crop company Field Options.
The acquisition significantly enhances ProCam’s offer, most notably in mixed farming areas, and helps to develop the company’s overall seeds supply strategy of providing farmer-focused solutions to current cropping challenges.
“Field Options, under the stewardship of its founder Francis Dunne, has built a formidable reputation for technical excellence in the forage crop sector, working one-to-one with its farmer customers to increase production efficiency,” says ProCam UK Managing Director, John Bianchi. “This philosophy mirrors ProCam’s farmer-first approach to business, where the best knowledge, the most effective solutions and the right people combine to provide a service focused on optimising production.
“Field Options will remain as a business, with Francis Dunne continuing as ProCam’s Director of Grass and Forage Seeds. All other staff will continue and existing agents and distributors will remain in place.”
Based in Presteigne, in the Welsh Marches, Field Options has been trading since 2004, developing into a UK-wide business supplying forage crops and technical expertise. The company’s range includes quality grass mixtures, maize, fodder beet, wholecrop mixtures and other forage crops, as well as seeds for environmental schemes, green manures, game cover, lawns and sports turf.
“This development gives us greater expertise in business management, more advanced logistics, and enhanced knowledge in crop production systems,” adds Francis Dunne. “Technical support to staff, agents and distributors should also benefit and there will be the potential to devote more resources to trials and product development.
“We expect our customers to see ‘business as usual’ in what is a very positive move for all concerned.”
Following the completion of the acquisition, Field Options became a trading division of ProCam UK Limited with effect from 31 August 2017.
