Specialist AD finance provider, Privilege Finance’s commitment to the renewables sector has been rewarded, with the company being shortlisted for three British Renewable Energy Awards.
The shortlisting follows a year of significant growth for the business, having invested over £75m into the industry over the last 12 months and with plans to invest over £90m in 2018.
“We’re delighted to have been shortlisted in three categories at this year’s REA awards. This is testimony to our team of specialists, who have spent the last year supporting both new and existing clients to help deliver a viable and sustainable AD industry,” said Phil Gerrard, CEO of Privilege Finance.
“Our primary focus is to support the growth of the UK AD and biogas sectors through the provision of funding for both on-farm and food waste projects. We’re one of the few finance providers that is continuing to lend to both new and existing projects, despite delays from government tariffs,” he says.
“In addition to the 17 plants that are due to be built this year, we also have long-established relationships with a number of developers, who are continuing to successfully purchase and optimise underperforming plants.
Supporting the next generation
As well as achieving success in the ‘Company’ and ‘Financial Leadership’ categories, Privilege has also been responsible for the successful shortlist of employee Marc Graham, and Katie French, of partner company BioG UK, in the ‘Young Renewable Energy Professional’ category.
“Supporting the next generation of AD advocates is vital for us to ensure the future of the industry. Marc joined us in April 2017, as a Programme Manager, and has had a significant positive impact on our business, despite having no previous AD experience. His ability to engage with stakeholders of all levels, and quickly problem solve has made him a valuable member of our team.
“Katie is a great example of a young individual carving themselves a future in the renewables industry. Her hard work and determination, along with that of her partner Rob, has seen the success of BioG UK grow, with the development and acquisition of six plants within just two years.
“It’s great to receive recognition for the work that we do alongside our partners, and we’re all really looking forward to hearing the final results in the coming months,” added Phil.
The winners of the REA awards will be announced on 14 June at the Savoy Hotel in London.
